Professor Dr. Md. His core areas of expertise encompass disaster and environmental issues (including indigenous climate adaptation, population displacement, vulnerability and social resilience, ecological and cultural adaptation, and water‐use, hygiene and sanitation), common‐property and ecological resource management (riparian, forest and wetland), childhood and child‐rights issues, and the study of diverse ethnic cultures . Since beginning his academic career as a Lecturer in Sociology at the University of Rajshahi in 1997, he progressed to Assistant Professor (1999–2004), Associate Professor (2004–2010), Professor Grade 2 (2010–2021), and Professor Grade 1 (from July 2021, transferred permanently August 2022). He also served as the 18th Chairman of the Department (September 2017–September 2020) and has been appointed as the Honorable Chancellor’s nominee on promotion boards .

Abdur Rashid is a Professor of Sociology at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU), Dinajpur, and a current Ph.D. candidate in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies at the University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), Canada. He earned his MA in International Studies (International Development Stream) from UNBC—completing a thesis on gendered violence in conditional cash transfer programs—and brings deep expertise in gender studies, advanced research methodology, social safety nets, transgender livelihoods, and critical development. Since joining HSTU in 2005, Dr. Rashid has designed and led a range of externally funded research projects—from digital financial inclusion for ethnic minorities to housing access for slum dwellers—and has supervised over thirty undergraduate and graduate theses, published extensively in peer-reviewed outlets, and contributed to policy-relevant studies for government and international agencies .
